Who qualifies
SHHC measures eligible Scottish hip-hop releases. The test is factual and consistent rather than editorial.
Scottish connection
At least one primary artist must have a meaningful Scottish connection: born in Scotland, raised here, based here, or credibly established as part of Scottish music culture.
Genre
The recording must reasonably sit within hip-hop/rap or a closely related form, including grime, drill, trap, alternative hip-hop and pop-rap. Platform genre tags are evidence, not the final decision.
Primary artist rule
A qualifying primary artist is enough for a collaboration. Featured artists do not independently need to satisfy the Scottish connection rule.
Public measurable asset
The chart requires an artist, label or otherwise authorised canonical public platform asset. Random reuploads and fan copies are not suitable monitoring assets.
Baseline before chart eligibility
An accepted new asset must first receive an SHHC baseline. Plays or views accumulated before monitoring begins do not count as weekly movement, so acceptance never creates an immediate chart score.
No taste gatekeeping
Accent, commerciality, artistic credibility and personal taste do not affect eligibility. “Eligible” means measurable under the published rules — not endorsed.
